The owner Bob Switzer- a legend in his own hair – has spent 44 years buying, selling, trading and seeking music for himself and others. His hair fetish and vanity regarding it are legendary, yet he has humbly tried to provide a unique experience for any and all who grace his shop that he has operated for the past 21 years.
Recognizing that TAZ RECORDS is a legend in Calgary, Bob is dead set to increase this legendarieness at least as far west as Medicine Hat and hopefully as far north as Tuktoyaktuk.
With literally, 100’s of thousands of records, tapes and CD’s, TAZ is a totally unique audio and often-video experience.
In employing the legendary (sic) John Graham – former record bar operator (a legend in Dartmouth!), Bob has managed to put a staff with close to 100 years musical experience to serve the unsuspecting public. As much as 15 years has been spent acquiring a requested item. Though records are the staple at TAZ RECORDS – Eastern Canada’s oldest and largest real record store – other featured formats exist, such as CD, tape cassette, reel-to-reel and even 8-track. TAZ was planned and designed to be a totally unique experience. If not already an institution, we sure belong in one.
